About Sheila Lodge

In 1986 when I was mayor of Santa Barbara (1981-1993) a friend asked me to perform his wedding ceremony. Mayors are authorized to perform weddings in some states but not in California, and I told him I could not.  He said that I could do it, and when I asked how, he said I could send away for a Universal Life Church ordination by mail.

I did his ceremony, then a guest at his wedding asked me to do hers; it grew from there, and I have performed well over 1,500 other ceremonies since. I consider it an honor to be part of this extra-ordinarily special and exciting time in couples' lives, and I would be happy to be part of yours.

(The only dogma of the Universal Life Church is the Golden Rule, which is a part of almost every major religion in the world.)
